Roleplay Terminology

Hello! Im Epic, one of the people who was part of the MIRP-verse well before this wiki was created. I created this guide for new-comers and MIRP vets alike, to clear up a few issues.

RP

This is an abbreviation for "Roleplay". It means to control a character and use him/her/it to interact with other characters.

OC

Arguably more important than "RP", this is the only type of character that isn't frowned-upon here at the MIRP wiki. This abbreviation stands for "Original Character". An OC is any character that is Original, or a character YOU made.

Godding

"Godding", also known as "Godmoding" is a RP term. It is used to describe a person who controls other peoples characters. Simply put, it is controlling someone else's character.

Powergaming

"Powergaming" is a RP term. It is used to describe a character who is "Overpowered", and continuously exhibits this towards other characters. Can also be used as a synonym for 'OVerpowered'

Overpowered

"Overpowered" is a RP term. It is used to describe a character who is significantly more powerful then is reasonable; A person roleplaying as a god would be overpowered if he/she were the only god in the rp controlled by players, but if each player were a god, it wouldn't be overpowered.

Immortal

Immortal, in its RP sense, describes a character who cannot die of NATURAL reasons, such as age.

Invulnerable

"Invulnerable", in its RP sense, describes a character who cannot die of UNNATURAL reasons, such as a sword or in battle.

Anon John

"Anon John" is a RP term. It is used to describe any character without a back-story, or a character who's back-story is plain or uninteresting.

Mary Sue

"Mary Sue" is a well-known RP term. It is used to describe any character portrayed as "perfect". Frequently, it's used to describe a character as a mush of random things with no drawback or interesting flaws; a "kitsune catgirl who is also an angel, but has a dark demonic side, but always wants to help people!" for example.

Special Snowflake

"Special Snowflake", in its RP sense, describes any person OR character who is special "just cause", and/or forces other people OR character to feel a certain way about said person/character.

Voiding

"Voiding" is an action used in RP. It means to "Ignore" the previous post or poster.

MIRP / LMIRP

'More In Role Play' / 'Lots More in Role Play' Means there is more to the character, but it's to be found out in 'roleplay', as opposed to the character bio page. In particular, it's used frequently by people who want their characters backstory to be exposed through roleplay, then added to their bio page as opposed to the other way around.
